Garage48 helps Estonian and Baltic start-ups to join Microsoft’s BizSpark program

February 25, 2011
Garage48 Foundation joined Microsoft's BizSpark program as a network partner. BizSpark is an international initiative to help early stage start-up businesses keeping their costs lower for the first three years. The program is completely free to join, and within three years Microsoft offers free software, support services and assistance for startups to get their offerings on the world map.
BizSpark gives startups fast and easy access to Microsoft's current full-featured development tools, platform technologies as well as production licenses to bring to market innovative and interoperable solutions for the next generation of users.

To be eligible for the Microsoft BizSpark Program, startups must be actively engaged in development of a software-based product or service that is a core piece of their business model, have been in business less than three years, and have less than $1 million USD in revenue. Startups may enroll for the program by obtaining sponsorship from a designated BizSpark Network Partner, such as Garage48.

Garage48 is weekend event series to entrepreneurs, designers and software developers to build idea into working service or prototype in just 48 hours. First event took place in April 2010 in Tallinn, Estonia. Today there have been 3 events in Estonia and Finland. Garage48 roadmap for 2011 includes already 12 events in Northern Europe and Africa.

Garage48 HUB is a first co-working space located in central Tallinn and targeted for startups, technology and entrepreneurial people from Estonia, Europe and beyond. Garage48 events and HUB is managed by Garage48 Foundation, a non-profit organization promoting entrepreneurial mindset in Europe and Africa.

“Garage48 Foundation is happy to invite Estonian and Baltic startups to join the BizSpark program in order to take advantage of Microsoft software products to build their business or products and get saving from software licenses” said Martin Villig, one of the co-founders of Garage48. Startups can join BizSpark program at www.microsoft.com/bizspark where they could choose Garage48 as their network partner.

“We understand the difficulties startups face in trying to create a viable, scalable and sustainable business, especially in today’s economy,” said Andres Sirel, technology evangelist at Microsoft Estonia. “Microsoft BizSpark provides startups with a unique opportunity to grow their business by taking advantage of the breadth of the Microsoft platform, our global partner ecosystem and new ways to gain market exposure.”

In addition to the Garage48, BizSpark network includes two more partners in Estonia: MicroLink and hosting service provider Havirtual.com. BizSpark partner organizations are responsible for managing and sponsoring startup companies joining the program. BizSpark network includes different investors, consulting companies, hosting providers and incubators around the world.
